The General Assembly passes a bill banning pickup truck modifications that raise the front of the vehicle. The bill was drafted after a man was killed when he was hit by a truck that had the modification known as the “Carolina Squat.” Authorities say raising the front makes drivers unable to see what’s in front of them. The bill makes it a misdemeanor to raise a front bumper by 4 or more inches.
