A woman died after being hit by an SUV in Essex County last Friday. Police say the woman was crossing Tidewater Trail when she was hit by the westbound driver. An investigation determined the woman who is from Spotsylvania County was not in a crosswalk and the area was not well-lit plus she was wearing dark clothing. The driver did stop and police say no charges are being filed.
