A pair of organizations are partnering to identify abandoned and derelict boats in Virginia. According to 10 News the project is conducted by the Clean Virginia Waterways of Longwood University and the Virginia Coastal Zone Management Program. Marina operators and boaters are asked to submit information including the size of the boat, hazards to navigation, and any risks to the environment. Abandoning a vessel is illegal in Virginia.
