The Mathews County Board of Supervisors is working on its fiscal year 2023 budget. According to the Gazette-Journal County Administrator Ramona Wilson gave a presentation to the board on the proposed spending plan that totals $33.7 million. The county’s portion is just under $19.7 million. Wilson says the lack of a state budget makes estimating expenses more challenging. One issue before the board is the personal property tax rate especially with the dramatic increase in used vehicle values.
