Middlesex County’s proposed 2022-2023 budget contains a tax cut for real estate owners on paper but most taxpayers will be paying more this year. According to the Southside Sentinel that’s because of property value reassessments that increased values by over 10%. That means the one-cent-per-$100 in valuation cut will actually be a six cent increase. A budget public hearing is this Thursday and a tax rate hearing is next Thursday.
