Kilmarnock Mayor Mae Umphlett expressed her gratitude to the fire companies which responded to a blaze Tuesday that destroyed apartments and businesses on Irvington Road. All 3 Lancaster County departments and one from Northumberland County responded. Kilmarnock Fire Chief Roy Hall says one perdon died who was in a basement studio apartment. Town Manager Susan Cockrell says they have reached out to all the businesses and to the Red Cross to offer assistance.
