Middlesex County holds a special election in November to choose a candidate to complete the unexpired term of treasurer Kathy Thrift who recently died. According to the Southside Sentinel the winning candidate will complete the term that expires at the end of 2023. Candidate application packages are available at the county elections office in Saluda or online at elections.virginia.gov. Application deadline is August 19.
