Mathews County property owners will see tax bills in their mailboxes this week. Treasurer Wendy Stewart tells the Gazette-Journal the mailing delay was because the Board of Supervisors didn’t finalize the tax rate until last Tuesday. As a result the payment due date is extended to June 30. The original payment due date was June 5. The rate was reduced a half-cent to 64 cents per $100 of assessed valuation.
