When the House of Delegates reconvenes today one order of business for Democrats is to elect a new leader. Eileen Filler-Corn was removed during the House’s special session held in April. According to 8 News candidates to succeed Filler-Corn include Don Smith of Portsmouth, Charniele L. Herring of Alexandria and Richard Sullivan Jr. of Fairfax. Herring currently serves as caucus chair. Republicans took control of the chamber after last November’s elections but Democrats still have the majority in the Senate.
