The National Park Service awards a $500,000 grant to the Fairfield Foundation for rehabilitation work at the historic Timberneck House in Hayes. According to the Gazette-Journal the Foundation is in the process of renovating the circa 1793 house as a place for learning, lodging and exploring the Middle Peninsula. Once work is completed it will feature exhibits discussing the history and persistence of Virginia Indians, the history of Timberneck farm, and highlighting many local sites of interest in and near Gloucester County.
