New signage is coming to Cooks Corner Trail to celebrate black heritage. The Southside Sentinel reports the Middlesex County Board of Supervisors approved a $36,000 expenditure for the signage. The county’s Heritage Committee is seeking Virginia Landmarks Register status for the Cooks Corner community through the Virginia Department of Historic Resources. If Cooks Corner is designated a historic district, there will be three recognized VLR historic districts in the county.
