Fraud & Scam Losses Up In Virginia Last Year

A report from the Federal Trade Commission finds Virginia consumers were hard hit by scams last year. Over 52,000 fraud reports were received from the Commonwealth for 2022 totalling over $179 million. That works out to an average loss of $650 per incident. Categories included identity theft; imposter scams; credit bureaus, information furnishers and report users; online shopping and negative reviews; and banks and lenders.
