The Virginia Lottery released its March sports wagering report and bets were up by 9% from March of 2022. Bets topped $511 million and winners took home over $456 million. State law places a 15% tax on sports betting activity based on each permit holder’s adjusted gross revenue. 97.5% of those revenues go into the General Fund and 2.5% is allocated to the Problem Gambling Treatment and Support Fund administered by the Virginia Department of Behavioral Health.
