The Virginia Lottery released its May sports wagering report and bets were up by 15% from May of 2022. Bets were nearly $404 million and winners took home over $355 million. State law places a 15% tax on sports betting activity based on each permit holder’s adjusted gross revenue. 97.5% of those revenues go into the General Fund and 2.5% is allocated to the Problem Gambling Treatment and Support Fund administered by the Virginia Department of Behavioral Health
