Virginians can now list their blood types on their driver’s licenses. It’s optional, and not required. It’s a way to help first responders in the case of an emergency. Customers who wnat to replace, renew, or apply for a new driver’s license or ID card will be asked whether they want to have their blood type show on that document. The blood type will be displayed in a small icon on the front of your license or ID. “The law was intended to aid individuals and first responders when every second counts in an emergency,” said DMV Commissioner Gerald Lackey.
