Kilmarnock Police Officers To Get Raise

Kilmarnock Town council on October 16 voted 3-2 to increase pay for Kilmarnock police officers. Beginning December 15, the starting pay for town police officers will increase from $43,500 to $50,000. According to the Rappahannock Record, police and public safety committee chairman Les Spivey brought forth a related resolution to increase the starting pay. Lancaster County has it on its docket to increase their officer’s pay and Kilmarnock should be on par with the county. Council member Rebecca Nunn said the increased salary would cost roughly $28,000 for the remainder of the year. Council ultimately voted in favor of increasing officer salaries effective with the December 15 payroll payments.
