Gloucester, King and Queen and Mathews Counties are among those sharing in more than $20 million of Virginia Telecommunication Initiative grants to improve broadband internet infrastructure. The funding will help connect more than 13,400 households, businesses, and anchor institutions to high-speed internet while leveraging $18.8 million in private and local investments. The three counties’ projects were evaluated for demonstrated need and benefit for the community, applicant readiness and capacity, and the cost and leverage of the proposed project.
