The Ashland Police Department announced it received a reaccreditation award from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies. Accredidation is a voluntary program that requires agencies to comply with state-of-the-art standards in four basic areas and APD has been accredited since 2008. The accredidation process includes having assessors meet with multiple officers within the agency, members of the community and law enforcement partners in the area. The department is up for reaccreditation in 2024.
