LC BOS Moves Ahead With County Cigarette Tax Plans

The Lancaster County Board of Supervisors is moving ahead with plans to implement a county cigarette tax. The Rappahannock Record reports the board authorized county administrator Don Gill to draft an ordinance which would take effect July 1. The tax would not be collections at retailers where a town cigarette tax is already imposed. A public hearing will be held before the board votes on the ordinance and the date for the hearing is being scheduled.
