Va. Removes Work History Requirement For Medicaid

Virginia eliminates the 10-year work history requirement to qualify for Medicaid, opening eligibility to thousands of legal immigrants. The VIrginia Pioverty Law Center reports a budget amendment from Gov. Ralph Northam allocated $4.4 million to cover the additional costs. The change was to have taken effect last year but was stopped because of COVID-19. There are now 5 states with a work history requirement to qualify for Medicare.
