Gloucester County Moves Ahead With School Sales Tax Reallocation

Gloucester County lawmakers move ahead with allocating the 1% sales tax increase approved by voters last fall to pay down past school construction debt instead of allocating it toward new construction. The Daily Press reports the Board of Supervisors approved the reallocation last week and also turned down the school board’s reques for an additional $38.5 million to fully renovate the high school instead of a partial renovation saying allocating the extra money would require a property tax increase.
