Lieutenant Governor candidate Hala Ayala received an endorsement from Governor Ralph Northam along with House Speaker Eileen Filler-Corn and House Majority Leader Charniele Herring. Ayala was lauded for her work on expanding Medicaid, passing criminal justice reform and abolishing the death penalty. If Ayala wins election in November she would become the first woman lieutenant governor and the first woman of color to serve in a statewide office.
