Federal Lawsuit Against VEC Settled

The Virginia Employment Commission has until Labor Day to resolve questions and claims from around 92,000 unemployed residents waiting for their jobless benefits resulting from COVID-19. The deadline is part of a settlement from a federal lawsuit brought against the VEC by 5 plaintiffs claiming benefits were denied without a timely explanation. The settlement calls for VEC to pay the plaintiff’s back benefits by Friday unless they are deemed ineligible by a formal adjudicating process.
