The 245th anniversary of the Battle of Cricket Hill will be commemorated on July 10 during a ceremony being held by the Virginia Society, Sons of the American Revolution. The Gazette-Journal reports the dedication takes place at Morningstar Marinas on Mill Point Road in Hudgins. The battle in 1776 marked the end of the British ruling Virginia as troops were forced to leave Gwynn’s Island. A battle re-enactment will take place at the ceremony.
