Sidney Man Pleads Guilty To Animal Cruelty

A man from Sidney will be in jail for a year for pleading guilty to an animal cruelty charge after an investigation determined he threw a knife at a dog after he was upset that it got into the garbage. Prosecutors say the dog was treated for a gash on its hind leg.

Norwich Getting Boutique Hotel

A boutique-style hotel ius coming to the city of Norwich as a result of a Restore NY grant. The money will go to renovate a building on South Broad Street which once housed the SUNY Morrisville campus. Part of the city’s downtown revitalization grant is also being used for the project.

Hancock Wildfire Consaumed 6 Acres

Delaware County requested Forest Ranger assistance last Thursday with a wildfire near State Route 268 in Hancock. The Rangers joined multiple fire departments in getting the six-acre fire contained. It took about 5 hiurs to get the fire under control and crews remained on scene afterwards due to some hotspots.

Lost Mine Kill State Park Hikers From Otego Loicated

Last Thursday state Forest Ranger France helped locate lost hikers in Mine Kill State Park. The hikers from Otego took a different trail down from Mine Kill Falls and became lost. Schoharie County medics checked out the group and determined no medical attentrion was needed.
