The Northumberland County Board of Supervisors will hold a public hearing on September 14, 2023 at 7:00 p.m. in the Northumberland County Courts Building at 220 Judicial Place adjacent to the Sheriff’s Office in Heathsville They’ll consider adding a new Article “Cigarette Tax” to Chapter 132 of the Northumberland County Code of Ordinances to authorize the levy of taxes upon the sale or use of cigarettes in the portions of the County of Northumberland outside of the corporate limits of the Town within the county. Board members will also discuss approving the formation of a joint entity to be known as The Chesapeake Bay Region Cigarette Tax Board, with the County of Northumberland as a member.
